images from a walk

took the dog for a walk, but the wind was so bitter it didn't last long. It was sunny and kind of warm, but I think a front went through... it was not pleasant.

Snow melt on the dirt road

Pigeons trying to fly against the wind. They were hovering because it was so windy

Pretty cool looking decaying hay bales

The snow melt one looks like a cool glaze on a pot - I don't suppose there is any way to reproduce something like that with glazes?

I just went through your Flickr set and found "sister (Katie)." What is it and why is it named after me? And you might as well explain "Beth" while you're at it cuz I didn't get that one either.

OK, well, long story about the names... basically, they were 'sculptural portraits' of people I found important... family. Yours consists of lots of little 'nest' like vessels with fibers inside, making them more nest like. My reasoning behind that, while complicated was because you are my older sister and I have memories of you taking care of me, and now that is reinforced by your own motherhood. Not that that is the only aspect to you as a person, but it was one I found important and wanted to highlight.
As for 'Beth' it is reminiscent of tube worms, you know the things that live at the bottom of the ocean, and when I first had the idea for it, she was just going through some personal problems, and the fact that she can be so strong is the idea of her survivability.

If you need any more discussion I would be more than happy to!

Nope. I'm good with nesting. It just reminded me a little too much of that icky hair exhibit we had to go to in high school at the Kohler arts museum and I was hoping it wasn't hair. Nesting material is good.
